Mid–Self Evaluation Essay As this semester has begun, and I have begun to adjust to this course's requirements, expectations, and goals I have found myself taking more risks and challenging my prior writing style. I've been a little apprehensive with my writing style this semester and feel that at times I may be missing the entire ideas of the topic. Although I do the work and get a good grade, I always feel uncertain before posting a blog or turning in my final assignment. Although the entire courses topic is nothing foreign to me it has become a challenge for me to write about. When we do participate in peer reviews and reflections I make sure I do not rush my work and am careful to respond in sufficient time. In the Official SCSU English Dept. Goals they have also listed a section entitled The Rest. "The Rest: Regular preparation and participation (includes timeliness, effort, improvement, participation in class discussion), peer support, surprise quizzes: 15%", I feel that as a student in English 112 I have regularly participated in class, have offered peer support and advice, and have done very well on the surprise quizzes we've had. Peer editing has helped me become a stronger and more fluid writer this semester. I've never actually done peer editing within a familiar group before every paper, so having a specific day to read and comment on one another's writing in detail has truly helped me formulate better essays overall. It has helped me not only to see small mistakes I've made, but how the reader or audience interprets my work. Aside from peer editing inside the classroom I've taken my papers to the writing center and you for advice and help. I think that through the use of these sources it has helped me to develop stronger claims, better fluidity, and coherency. By formulating ideal structures, engaging in peer editing, and creating reflection pieces, they have helped me generate overall better papers.

Now that I have completed the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth course Crafting the Essay, I feel I have tremendously grown as a writer. Even after submitting the first assignment, I looked back at a position paper I wrote for school that I received an A+ on, yet I saw several flaws I wished I had changed.
I feel I have significantly improved on my aspects of punctuation in grammar; the progressions Leslie suggested to me on said aspects synchronized with the grammar lessons taught in my English Honors class. I also feel that my vocabulary has developed extensively throughout the course, as well as my structural and organizational skills in my writing pieces.

If I stutter whatsoever or blatantly recognize a fault in my piece, I change it immediately. I also wish I had less work outside of the course (such as schoolwork, housework, social events, etc.) so I could have spent more time on my pieces for it. Some of my pieces were started only a few days before the assignment was due, and I wished I had had more time to edit and proofread. I have gained many insights I have gained about descriptive and narrative writing over this course. The one that I will take the most away from the course is my realization of my own tone and voice that I possess in my pieces and how to apply them in a narrative. I have also learned how to develop a tone and voice for others when I am writing a piece from the perspective of them. There are significant contrasts between characters, such as the wicked, selfish Amber and the kindhearted, welcoming Horace from Assignment 3, and I have learned how to establish nuances in dialogue and activity to individualize my characters. Although this insight may not apply to analytical writing, it certainly applies to persuasive writing. Perhaps if I wanted to persuade someone in a letter, this course helped me realize the tone I would need to establish in that letter to have him or her come to the realization that they should do what I would like. Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.

I have discovered some interesting things I have noticed in myself before taking this course. For example, my learning style I have noticed is the visual learning style.

With this, I prefer to see and read information to full gain comprehension. If I forget the data, or not clearly understand it the first time read, I have the option of reading it over. I do not always trust myself to absorb all information the first time around. I take a lot of notes to look at. Notes help me remember even though I may not read the again, I can refer to them in my mind after writing them down. I am not sure if just anyone reading them would get anything out of it, but at least I know what they mean.
I like to take my time with material, but am not always given the allotted time to do so. I also like to keep a written list of things to do to refer to. I am comfortable with my learning style, accepted it as my very own. I am not sure if changing it this late in life is such a good idea. I have got by this far, it must work out for me.
I have identified my personality style as being extroverted, one who becomes easily energized by others, and outwardly expressing thoughts as long as I am fully understanding context and material being discussed. Self assessment plays a important role in the success of an organisation. An organisation should employ different activities to reach its objectives. An organisation may make its assessment report to find out its activities are performing well. According to the best knowledge and experiences of members of an organisation systems needs to be designed and decided. A company cannot be confident without them verifying their process are effective. Against the objective the assessment need to be done to determine the extent of the achievement.

The main issue is to integrate everything into the business management effectively and in a natural way. Because self assessment is a process like activity, it is recommended that it is implemented in accordance with a defined process. The self assessment process indicates alignment with business in accordance with the organisation's management model. The assessment is implemented effectively when executed in a process like manner.

I honestly feel like classes like this should be offered more. Without the need for tests, and being able to express ourselves in an open environment and allowing us to have artistic freedom, I feel like has helped me learn the content deeper and given me much more satisfaction. And with the many different topics being covered I feel like I can learn all the sides of the argument being given, making me a more well–rounded and knowledgeable person. Our two potential groups right now are the Humane Society and Sierra Club, who we are hoping to connect with to create a project for Meatless Mondays and stopping the wall being created from Trump to stop the potential environmental dangers and implications from happening. We were thinking about proposing to the groups about creating a mural or interaction piece where you interact with multiple rooms to get the full spectrum of the implications of meat and the harm it has on not only the environment but our bodies as well; and creating a wall around Point Defiance Zoo to make a public statement about how the wall and animals/ environment interact and not allowing people to pass the wall without some form of common items that people don't normally carry. We are hoping more to connect with the Humane Society for Meatless Mondays, but its hard because we haven't gotten back any responses from either group. Our biggest concern right now is not getting back a response, and I guess finding time to really talk about our ideas (we only use text and email, and most of them are from

I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself "what have I learned this semester?" and "what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?". Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self–evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.

I have struggled with writer's block with often. In the past, I've learned to take breaks while writing to help alleviate symptoms of writers block; however, during the semester I have learned to carry a pad of paper with me so that I can write down idea's while they are fresh in my mind. Writing down my thoughts has helped me avoid writers block because I have a list of thoughts about the subject before I have even started writing. When I struggle less to write it improves my essay's by decreasing my stress, this can be seen in my writing. I was afflicted with writer's block while trying to write both my compare and contrast essay and my description essay, this caused me a lot of stress and caused my essay to suffer. On the other hand, when I wrote my classify and divide essay I did not have to deal with writer's block. As a result the stress level was greatly decreased and the improvement is substantial.

Although my writing has made some good progress during the course of this semester, I still some things I need to learn in order to keep improving my writing. Grammar, writing in an active voice, and building my rewrite skills are three examples of skills I need to build upon to continue to improve me writing.

Self–evaluation is definitely the most difficult type of criticism to receive. When you are hearing your faults from other people they usually go in one ear and out the other, but when you take a step back and realize for yourself that something needs to be changed within your personality, is it when you truly do something about it. I have a problem with allowing myself to become attached to girls that I have crushes on. I dream about how things could be and I imagine a relationship inside my head far before there is even a chance. I also tend to take any sign of affection as a girl having a "thing" for me. This always tends to pose a problem because it ends up that I like this girl a whole lot more than she likes me, not only does this sometimes scare girls but it also makes me feel bad. The conclusions I draw from these experiences are that I am either ugly, undateable, or that a girl like this would just never go for a guy like me. That always makes me feel depressed.
What I can do to change this behavior I have was to first acknowledge that I had it. After admitting it I can try and realize what I am doing before I let myself get in too deep with a girl and hopefully not mess everything up and get myself hurt. Another option
I have is to maybe talk to a counselor about how I feel and listen to what they say and have them help me be able to handle these simple relationships.
With enough help and by me realizing the problem that I have, I feel that I should hopefully be able to have a normal relationship or at least not obsess over girls anymore. I would love to be able to just meet someone and have a normal, meaningful relationship without screwing it up. When I meet a new girl I will just try and be her friend and not assume anything until there is conclusive evidence to prove that she digs me back. I can not keep assuming things with girls and liking them way more than they like me.
