Reflection On Micro Teaching
This essay will analyse and highlight on the fifteen–minute micro teaching reflection that is vital for the self–evaluation and professional development of my teaching practice. It will further identify my strengths and weaknesses through my peer assessment and reflect on the teaching and learning theories, methods and strategies that are linked and practiced in my micro–teach.
According to the teachers' standards (DfE, 2012) "teachers make the education of their learners their first concern, keep their knowledge up to date and are self–critical." Therefore, this reflection practice will guide me towards the improvement on my lesson planning strategies and delivery. In addition, it will also make an enormous difference in my teaching and learning practice which is vital for teacher training.
One of the significant part of this course is micro teaching session, in this session we are required to deliver fifteen–minute planned lesson containing learning outcome. Furthermore, this session was recorded and observed by the peers to evaluate. Due to my interest in ESOL I decided to deliver my session on "Boogle Puzzle" to embed a simple literacy/numeracy activity aims to target ESOL (English for speakers of other languages) learners. In this task, pupils are given activity to make seven – ten words in the English language from the word grid to improve word recognition and spellings.
Based on reflection of my micro–teaching I provided learners with the basic instructions on "Boggle puzzle" and opted for potential instruction strategy. I used present, practice and produce strategy (English language resource, 2017) to allow pupils to practice and learn new vocabulary in co–operative way. Similarly, I used co–operative learning method to encourage pupils to learn from each other and gain interpersonal skills. According to Johnson and Johnson (1995) co–operative learning method have proven effective in increasing motivation, self–esteem and problem solving. Thus, to enhance inter dependency, the class was divided into two main groups of fours and were further divided into pairs, to finish their task. According to Mercer (1985) effective communication is as cognitive and social development are intertwined,
Reflective Essay On Creative Writing
Learning to Create English 283 is a creative writing class. The class I took was taught by the well–respected Dr. Stewart. She has dedicated a majority of her life to writing novels, poems and short stories. What makes her writing unique is the careful details and moment capturing scenes she constructs. Creative nonfiction is the bread and butter of writing. The stories or poems are soaking with true facts and experiences. Aiming to create a bond within our class, Week Ones assignment was to compose a letter of introduction. We as a class shared our strengths, weakness and what we expect to gain from the class. This broke the ice for our class, making our transition into small groups easier. Each week, I took baby steps towards...show more content...
Titled, 20 different ways to talk about creative nonfiction. I learned about back–story, factual vs emotional truth, narrative tension and voice. These elements that carried me through the rest of the semester. Moving into Weeks Five and Six, revision was the main focus. Revising of lines folded into the reading of sounds and Sonics. Both very important to the finalization of a creative nonfiction draft. Weeks 8–12 pushed the importance of drafts and revision strategies. Our small groups started to meet at least once every week working to develop better drafts for our final portfolio. Our creative piece should reflect our growth as a writer, using shape, structure, style, drafting and revision as tools to create our own story. Dr. Stewart left us in confidence to pick whatever subjects we wanted to write about. With all these skills learned, the most important step in creative nonfiction is the research. Most of my research derived from our class readings. I paid close attention to the writers approached there craft. Reading pieces out of writing true such as "The Role of Research" and "Under the Influence". Had a huge impact on my learning. I began to understand the flow and how to examine what I wanted to write about deeper. Without the influence of research, catching the reader's emotional, imaginative and intellectual attention is extremely difficult. Having the correct structure and research combination in
Reflection Paper About English Composition
English Composition I has developed my style of writing and my skills analyzing and researching topics to write a piece about a topic. Throughout the course, I got better at analyzing articles and pieces to get the meaning of the topic. With that improved skill I was more able to use the information given from the text and install it into my essays, with proper citation if needed. Before taking the English Composition course, I was not one to organize my essays in an ordeal order to clearly state the point of the work. Now with taking the course, I have learned to organize my essays, examine research for a topic, and develop an essay with proper mechanics, and revising skills. In writing my personal, review, analytical, and cultural...show more content...
I then described my life and who I was. After describing this, I explained my experiences in confronting racism. The point of the essay was to state that racism is still alive and can be present anywhere. After writing this essay, I learned that my mechanics and style was not where it should be. Even with the revisions Mr. Heldenfels made in the draft, I still made mistakes with mechanics and tense shits. I had written comma splice and has several spelling mistakes. I looked to improve my mechanics after writing this essay.
With writing my review essay of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie's album The Bigger Artist. The essay took some time to write because of the research I needed to gather. In this essay I used more citations and quotes. I made mistakes the mechanics in writing the quotes. This was the first essay in which we used sources, so it was challenging to create my own ideas but I was able to do it. Writing this essay improved my knowledge of mechanics in citations and quotations.
Through taking the course, I learned to utilizes sources in a more efficient way. In writing my analytical essay of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly I had to use ten sources. All the sources I used provided different information, some provided more than others, but all sources were needed to complete the essay. In collecting all the information for the essay, I had to research who created the source and decide if it was credible. This essay assignment force me to examine works in
Before entering English 1301, I had my doubts about what this class was going to consist of. Considering this is a college level English class, and a subject I struggled in, my worries were not at ease. Throughout the year, my understanding and comprehension of the writing process, as well as how to write different varieties of writing, have strengthened. After partaking in this course, I am confident I have met the student learning outcomes. After completing my first college level English class, I would be expected to meet four student learning outcomes. One of those being I could use rhetorical devices to strengthen my essays. Coming into this course, I did not have a grasp over this subject and knew it was something I could improve on....show more content...
I have improved my grammar through feedback from my instructor, and workshops I participated in. There is a significant difference between my writing conventions from the beginning of the year to my present writing conventions. In my second essay, The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life, I have noticed many writing convention errors. In this essay I said, "Also with the lack of technology, they were influenced to be more adventurous and get out of the house and explore things on their own" (The Drastic Evolution of Teen Life) This sentence is a prime example of faulty sentence structure; it lacks punctuation in the right places. My third essay, Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors, has less errors and shows improvement on these writing conventions. Improvement can be seen in the sentence, " Euthanasia should not be legal because it is not morally correct, undermines medical research, and denies patients the final stage of growth"(Euthanasia: Condemned by Doctors). This shows development on sentence structure, punctuation, and helps gives my essay a polished look. Without this, errors I may have previously made would be even more
Examples Of Reflective Essay
Reflective Essay Before I first started my essay, I looked and noticed that I had to do a documented research essay. I then had to come up with a topic for my essay. I chose ADHA for my topic, then I have done some research on this topic. I had to find all the information I wanted to know about this topic I had chosen to write about. I had to write down everything I could find about this topic, so I could write my essay. With this topic, there is a lot of web pages that have a lot of information that will help you get everything you need. My first strategy I did was to collect all information on my topic, so I could do a sketch on topic I had chosen to write about. When researching this topic, I had found there is a lot of web pages with about this topic I had chosen. I made sure to have all my web pages written down so that way I can go back and put all my information down correctly. The next strategy I had done was once I was done I wrote me a sketch with all the information I collected during my research. I then wrote down everything that I had found about this topic I had chosen to write about. While I was doing my research, I have found multiple webpages about this topic and they all had a lot of information about this topic. This helps you make sure you did not copy someone else works and not give them credit for it. Always go through your essay and make sure you have not left out any important information about your
Example Of Class Reflective Essay
I have chosen my third and sixth essay to write about because I simply believe they demonstrate my best writing and thinking towards certain subjects and topics. It is the compare and contrast and literary analysis essay I will be touching on and I truly feel that they both reveal important improvements in my thesis development and my analysis of outside sources, along with slight enhancement of my organization and clarity within my overall work. I read through each essay assignment carefully in order to identify and select which ones were potentially acceptable in making it on this rationale. I had settled with my final essay, however, I had initially chosen a different second pick, but after closely analyzing and reviewing between the compare/contrast and cause/effect essay, I ended up...show more content...
Before participating in this course, I had no experience in any advanced placement English courses and had solely experienced college prep courses in my past years. I say this because this composition course meant so much more to me. I wanted to prove to myself that I was capable of writing and thinking like my fellow peers coming from the advanced courses as I previously mentioned. With this being said, I chose these particular essays because I honestly feel that they reflect the level of rhetoric writing and critical thinking I have been aiming for since the very start of the course. Now off to analysing my essays; my third one was on comparing and contrasting and it was significant for me because I expanded and gained new abilities in articulating my my position in a variety of ways. I obviously compared and contrasted different sides to a topic, but it is important to note that it wasn't just a report, but rather I needed to create and publish a clear message to the audience of my stance. Personal Reflective Essay
From my first days at The College of Wooster, I can tell that I will be aptly prepared to have a successful future both during college and beyond. I'll immediately be challenged and engaged by the First Year Seminar which will provide me with opportunities to make friends, engage in a topic of interest, and further develop my writing skills. In addition, this seminar will prepare me for college success. Writing has always been something of interest to me, so the writing intensive First Year Seminar aligns with my personal passions. The College of Wooster also has a writing club that I would be interested in joining. A writing club would give me weekly chances to meet with fellow creative writers and allow me to become part of a writing
Reflective Essay On Professionalism
Professionalism can be defined as "the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person."(Merriam–webster) My interpretation of this definition is that professionalism is a standard that we must hold ourselves accountable to in order to provide the best service. How do we get from a basic understanding of this definition, to practicing and applying professionalism? Major attributes that lead to professionalism can include accountability, communication and reflective practice. Reflective practice in the healthcare system is when "practitioners engage in a continuous cycle of self–observation and self evaluation in order to understand their own actions and the reactions they prompt in themselves" (becoming a better university teacher...). In the day–to–day life, everyone performs a type of reflection whether it is by unconscious thought or by habit. When it is unintentional it is hard to learn and grow from the knowledge that can potentially be gained. Therefore we need to find a way to effectively incorporate reflective practice into our daily lives, especially as radiation therapy students.
There is a simple three–step framework for practical, structured reflection by Dr. Natius Oelofsen that really stood out to me. Reflective practice should not be complicated or time consuming or else it will not be done efficiently or effectively. We need reflective practice to become habit during our school years in order for it to be
Reflective Essay On Climate Change
Climate change is an unpredictable change in weather among the countries and states that make up parts of the world. Despite the tragedies of Hurricane Sandy, the ongoing California Wildfires, and the three hurricanes that divested Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, I believe those powerful climate events is the truly beginning of what the world is in store for. I feel like in a way not only is mother nature sending signals, but so is God. The last natural disaster North, South, and Central America are waiting for is the Tsunami that will wash away our humanity. However, one object that will vanish our entire existence before God does is the bomb Koreans will soon erupt on our soil. To fight for our lives and planet, as humans we should take better care of our environment before it all comes crashing down like a domino effect.
Climate change has affected social classes by targeting low–income communities in pollution industries around the areas just out of convenience. Communities of both colored and low–incomed class are located near hazardous waste sites due to not being able to afford living in a much safer environment. Since the government views poor people as despicable human beings, why not make their lives any more suffering than it already is? In the future, I predict that the 4 "ism's"
Reflective Poetry Essay
Reflective Poetry Essay
Composing poetry is an artistic expression; subsequently it's a way of conveying everything that needs to be conveyed and finding importance in expressions. Through poetry words are illuminated to form a picture, express feeling and share a thought in so few words. Putting down on paper all the emotions going through ones head is a way of re–living and remembering the overwhelming emotions they grapple with throughout their lives. Poet Michelle Williams states that: ".... humans have always grappled with overwhelming emotions. Throughout history we have expressed these emotions in many ways, such as through song, music, dance, art and poetry"
This is true because putting on paper emotions such as hurt and...show more content...
This stanza returns to the solitude of the lonely wondering cloud. However, the poet has been changed by his imaginative experience involving the daffodils and the accompanying bay waters. Loneliness is now a peaceful solitude. William Wordsworth describes himself as alone and lonely, detached even from nature. Wordsworth feeling of sadness emerges from this poem.
In Conclusion, poets William Wordsworth, Percy Shelley and William Blake show how poetry displays the importance of human ability to convey emotions and say what they feel. Therefore the quote by poet Michelle Williams is true. In poets William Wordsworth "Preface" to Lyrical ballads, he describes poetic process as follow:
"Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feeling: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.
Thus through poetry the opportunity to recreate and relive the previously experienced emotion is conveyed.
Examples Of Academic Reflection
During the whole process of designing the IMC plan for HP Sprocket in this semester, I have earned valuable experience about teamwork, and I have learned lessons not only from class, but also from the whole working process. First of all, I have to admit that this group is one of the best groups I've ever had, I used to think that only failed experience helps people learn and grow. However, this time in a well–organised group, I found that I was wrong, positive experience contributes as well. This essay will reflect what I have learned, and it will be mainly divided into two parts: academic reflection and experiential reflection.
Academic Reflection
In an IMC plan, separate segment needs to cooperate with each other through organisational communications in order to ensure that audiences can receive a same key message from different channels (Ots and Nyilasy 2015, 134–135). Personally, I feel it is perfectly understandable as a first–time IMC practitioner. In this group work, because we do not have much time to discuss the "Big Idea" at the very beginning, we decided to divide the work first and then combine them together to find out the "Big Idea". However, I found that I cannot come up with useful strategies without effectively communicating with my teammates about our goal for this plan. After we have finished our first draft and uploaded it to Google Drive, we all agreed that this is a weak plan, because the messages we try to deliver in each piece do not have much in common.
As Percy (2013, 2–3) pointed out, both the key and the goal of IMC planning are "to deliver a consistent message". This made me think we might be wrong at the aiming stage. In this scenario, assigning work without figuring out the requirement of an IMC plan is the problem of our group, and I need to learn that figuring out the main requirements and setting a clear goal are essential steps for innovative projects like an IMC plan. Because they can improve both individual's task performance and group's working efficiency (Hoegl and Parboteeah 2003, 4). There may have certain groups that can perform well without cooperating tightly, like a calculation group, but IMC group is definitely not one of them. Which reminds me that in the
Reflective Essay On Self Esteem
Self–acceptance is an extremely prevalent issue that numerous people struggle with. It is one of the hardest to surmount, for it is something I still struggle with to this day. Overall, my journey is a working progress as it will perpetuate to have its downfalls to test me. Like many of my generation, social media has played an excessively paramount role in our lives, both negatively and positively. Sources of harmless entertainment have also unintentionally encouraged self–judgment. Be that as it may, my perspective has been widely opened unexpectedly through a speaker's presentation as she showed us how to recognize our self–worth. Confidence and self–esteem are hard to acquire for some, but it should not be a quantity you divest yourself of. Self–acceptance of all insecurities and doubts is paramount since every individual has a unique beauty that should be cherished in order to pursue a life full of love and jubilance.
During my sophomore year in high school, we had a Career Day with several guest speakers. They had split us up by gender, the girls stayed on the right side of the school while the boys stayed on the left. We could not enter the opposite sides considering we had presentations concretely for each group. As the boys had speakers to discuss the development of a gentleman, we had speakers addressing topics relating to makeup and on how to be a lady. Towards the end of the day, my friends and I decided to choose our last presentation randomly. As we entered the room, there was this resplendent woman with a surprisingly cordial atmosphere. She addressed us as if we were her own children; you could sense the love she had for positivity before she even commenced to speak. She gave us a background story of her childhood during our age, for she too had struggled with accepting herself with all her insecurities. She described her several encounters with bullying and how it had impacted her self–esteem even though she appeared so vigorous and confident. I admired that about her the most, not once did she ever show the slightest bit of weakness, yet she too had relatable problems. Then she mandated us to indite down the worst thing someone had ever verbally expressed about us, even if it were of our own
Example Of Reflective Teaching
Reflective teaching
Reflective teaching has been one of the important tends in education since it helps teachers and leaners in problem solving and decision–making processes and it foster critical–thinking abilities. Study and learning of students comes from the different approaches, strategies and even methods and principles. Learning is said to be the change in the behavior of a student or a learner. Reflective practice is not just understanding of what is to be understood, reflection involves thinking about and critical analyzing our action's and experiences. It help us in improving or learning and understanding. Reflective teaching is largely based on shon's reflection–in–action and reflection–on–action model.
John Dewey who is often considered to be the originator of the concept of reflection defines reflective practice as an 'active persistent, and careful consideration of any belief or supposed form of knowledge in the light of the grounds that support in, and the further conclusions to which it tends...'(1993, p. 6).

The observation's reflection has already influenced the way I plan and teach. Reflecting on my work helped me improve my teaching strategies and gain the ability to schedule plans that respond to the students' needs. In my opinion, observation is one of the most successful strategies that are used in the practicum course to support teachers. I believe that AUD has formed an enthusiastic teaching and learning community.
I learned a tremendous amount of information and experiences since my enrollment in the ME program. I learned to be flexible, remain open to continuous learning, and improve my career. I am also learned about the importance of time and about the importance of education in our life. I give the credit of all of that to the reflection strategy.
During my learning experience, I had the opportunity to re–skill myself and learn new strategies to support my mission as a teacher. Recently, the Practicum course has helped me live an authentic experience by transferring my learning and understanding into reality. I share knowledge, experience, and communication, which increase my awareness in a way to understand the change and implement new ways of
Reflective Reflection Essay Example
As I begin my final project for this English 102 course, I am reflecting on all of the work I have done in one semester that feels like two weeks. At the beginning, I was honestly stressed and anxious about this course. Throughout high school, I was happily in my comfort zone with my teachers I knew on a personal level, including how they graded and what they expected. Now at the end of this course, I can say that I do feel proud of my progress throughout the class. I feel accomplished in my ability to develop rhetorical strategies, locate appropriate sources via the library and the web, synthesize summarized, paraphrased, and quoted material into arguments, and correctly employ at least one system of citation. Overall, class discussions assisted me the most in identifying rhetorical strategies in writing. I was previously exposed to appeals in high school, but this course helped me identify them easier. Although my rhetorical analysis showed my doubts and uncertainty in my writing at times, I was able to recognize and link the rhetorical devices used by Michael Rosenwald in "Why digital natives prefer reading in print" to provide an effective argument for his audience. By utilizing examples of Rosenwald making note of Frank Schembari's feelings to relate an audience of readers Schembari's age and Rosenwald mentioning Tumblr, a popular blogging site, to create a connection with Millennials, I showed that I can identify effective and ineffective rhetorical devices.

While I was establishing a resume and cover letter tailored to this job add, I found myself trying to write in a more professional way to create a document I would be proud to have over to an employer. I made an attempt to present myself more confidently worked to show more credible information for experience
My Personal Reflection On Micro Teaching
Micro–Teaching Reflection I had the pleasure of completing the Micro–Teaching Project at Morningside Elementary School, alongside my mentor teacher, Ms. Beccy Anderson, in her Kindergarten classroom. In this paper, I will share with you a personal reflection of my experience; the process, the school, the mentor teacher, the students, and the lessons.
The Process
Beginning the Micro–Teaching Project was a simple task, as I was able to plan ahead. Prior to the semester beginning I spoke with Ms. Beccy Anderson about her providing me with some classroom time to complete my requirements for this course, she enthusiastically accepted. I also ensured that my background check with the Twin Falls School District and Certified Profile was up to date. With all of my ducks in a row I was already for the course to begin. Once Spring semester began and the micro–teaching project was assigned I delivered my letter to Ms. Anderson and we arranged a time for me to complete observation. At this time, we planned when I would complete my lessons, we chose Wednesdays at 2:45pm. In order for her to be aware of what was going to be completed in the classroom, we agreed that I would send her a lesson plan or overview of the lesson the night before I would teach. With Micro–Teaching Project Step One and Two complete, I was all set and ready to go.

Reflective Essay On English 101
Proficient writing is an essential skill in all aspects of academic and professional achievement. English 101, Introduction to Composition and Rhetoric, provided the framework to good writing, teaching me composition and rhetoric fundamentals, polishing up my grammar and style, and expressing a clear message. English 102, Composition, Rhetoric, and Research, continued to build on the skills I learned in English 101, focusing on the subject matter research process and employing various rhetorical and literary devices to better express a clear message to the reader. The course also improved my critical thinking capacity, allowing me to culturally evaluate my target audience, present logically flowing arguments using appropriate language and structure, and critically reviewing my writing projects for content and expression. Every writer inherently knows there's always room to improve and I hold fast to this mindset in all academic, professional, and personal writing projects. English 102 has both challenged and inspired me to grow into a much better writer than before I began the class, providing the necessary skills to be not just a good writer, but a great writer.
Most of my English 102 writing projects are rhetorical arguments, intended to persuade the reader in one direction or another. Reflecting on the many skills I honed in English 102, my predetermined use of rhetorical strategies (ethos, logos, pathos), developing a concise thesis statement, and clearly defining

As stated by Chuck Gallozi Internet article 08.12.09 "Many are painfully aware of weaknesses that hold them back. Yet, surprisingly, they are unaware of their many strengths. Focusing on our weaknesses while ignoring our strengths can be a source of discouragement and failure. And glorifying our strengths while ignoring our weaknesses can be equally unproductive. It is only when we give equal weight to our strong points and faults that we can realise our potential. Also note that we must choose our friends carefully because each relationship nurtures our strengths and weaknesses. That is, we will grow better or worse, depending on whom we spend our time with. Reflective Essay On The Tree Of Life
Life, the most complex and difficult concept to qualify, has been asserted as being meaningless. Millions of different life forms roam the Earth, and struggle to decipher any significance is troublesome. The expansiveness of the Universe makes it difficult to extract what is meaningful and what is not. This subject is one of the central issues of The Tree of Life, a modern film directed by Terrence Malick. The true plot of the film is difficult to decipher, and there in lies the over arching theme. The confusion and vastness that exists in the movie is confusing yet thought provoking. The plot follows the lives a family of five in Texas, but is interjected with breathtaking images of the Universe and its immensity. Shots of meteors hitting the earth, waves crashing in the ocean, and dinosaurs roaming the pre–historic landscape overwhelm the viewers' visual senses. The breathtaking cinematography exhibits top–notch imagry, but may leave the viewer dazed. The feelings that the amazing images in The Tree of Life evoke are noteworthy, yet I believe they have been miscaterogrized. Many of my classmates have argued in class that The Tree of Life conveys the idea that life is extremely finite and insignificance. In stark opposition to this idea, I believe that The Tree of Life has been misinterpreted. What qualifies a life as being meaningless? My classmates have asserted that having no connections leads to nothingness. While I understand the initial reaction to make this association, upon careful reflection I would have to disagree. The ability to relate to those like you and feel sympathy and empathy are imperative to the human experience. An interesting derivation of meaning can be analyzes in the book Barthes Lucida. In an insightful commentary of photography, Roland Barthes reflects on meaning and impact in a visual context. He notes two key ideas within photography, studium and punctum. Lucia explains that studium is the aspect of something that initially grabs the viewers' attention. This can be a color, a movement, a pose (or the lack of a color, a movement, a pose...). The studium snags the viewers attention, makes them look, but it is fleeting. Punctum, as Barthes asserts, is the part of

Two significant people that made an impact for me are my parents because they have always worked hard to give us everything we need. If it wouldn't have been for my parents guiding me to be better than others I might have Joined a gang or been under bad influences. There are two significant events that really impacted me one was a tragic event that happened to my neighbor/friends, who lost their mother after she died for reasons that I was too young to remember. After watching them live their lives without mothers I couldn't imagine how hard it was for them. The Second event is a shooting that happened at home while we were gone and my brother wasn't with us, my family and I were terrified until my mother received a call from my aunt who lived nearby, who had my brother for several hours. After, that moment my family had begun to feel relieved and learned to not let any moment we spend together be worthless. If there would be one thing that I would change from my past it would be surrounding myself from kids who instead of helping each other rise,
