Unprofessionalism in the workplace is a highly controversial topic that is debated by numerous of individuals. Mainly, because of the different backgrounds, religion, race, and up brings that we same as members of the United States. Many businesses consider dreadlocks, which are ropelike strands of hair formed by matting or braiding hair, unprofessional. Why is that woman wearing a burka, niqab, hijab, chador, or dupatta considered to have on unprofessional attire? Would you consider an employee as being insubordinate or unprofessional if he/she refuses to do tasks assigned by the manager that breaks their moral laws? We all can agree that unprofessionalism or professionalism falls under these categorizes– dress and grooming, employee interaction, harassment, workplace conduct, and ethics. Where people differ is what, or who says something is unprofessionalism or professionalism. Most of the time companies establish guidelines or employee handbooks that outlines what you can and cannot wear, how you hair should or should not be, along with many other things. When you approach someone during an incident, explain to them why you perform actions, and answer their questions. Engaging the public in conversation helps to make the officer a part of the community and helps gain the confidence of the public and improves the image of the police in the community.
No matter where law enforcement officers are they should maintain their professionalism. For instance, it does not make a good impression on the public if an officer is off duty and out with his buddies at a bar getting drunk and belligerent. If other patrons know he?s a police officer, it damages his reputation and public image as well as the department he works for. Police should also always be careful of what they say. You never know who could be listening. Perhaps a co–worker?s wife stopped in at the department store for something and another officer made crude comments that were over– heard by the wife. Not only is an incident like that downright rude and unprofessional, it could also be interpreted as harassment. Police officers must realize that they are expected by the community to maintain a level of integrity that others are not held to. Customers valued the technician 's opinion. Technicians should update work orders and use a calendar to remind them to call the customer. To help keep prestige in the pharmacy profession, family physicians should no longer prescribe medications and should only write the ailment on the prescription. This would allow pharmacists, who are the drug experts, to prescribe the drugs. This only makes sense to let doctors figure out what is wrong and the pharmacist to make the correct decision on the prescription. Half the time the pharmacist has to call the doctor anyways because they prescribed the wrong medicine or the wrong dosage. The other allegation of pharmacists tricking patients into declining their counseling is hilarious in my opinion. This scenario is like any other prejudice view, a couple of bad pharmacists make the entire profession look bad. Professional Issues Assignment.
Introduction
In this assignment, I will review the debate on professionalism. Looking at the teacher as a professional and discussing their professionalism. I will highlight the differences and the similarities between professionalism in education and several other professional vocations. I will discuss the shifting views of professional status of both mainstream teachers and FE teachers, and developments and where I see the FE sector heading.
I will go on to review conceptions of reflective practice in the context of professionalism, focussing on several models of reflection.

The statement later goes on to explain 'The government's agenda' in 'achieving the best possible practice from every classroom practitioner is the key.' This is a fair statement and best possible practice should be what we as professionals are working toward. However:
'the Government is approaching this aim through heavily managerialist institutions, with formal mechanisms of inspection, assessment and appraisal, measuring performance and setting targets, and offering rewards for those who improve and sanctions for those who do not.'(ATL 2005, p.2).
It is this approach by the government, over the years, which has shifted the views on teacher professionalism. The erosion of creativity and autonomy reduces the need to reflect and as the ATL states 'Review and reflection may be pointless in an environment where the teacher is or feels powerless to innovate, where decisions and changes are always imposed from above.'

There is a further question that requires our attention, and it is that of professionalism within the Further Education sector. Spenceley (2006,p.289) highlights 'the much contested concept of professionalism in the context of Further Education (FE).'
