Essay about Arguing Against Standardized Testing
To many students standardized testing has become another part of schooling that is dreaded. Standardized testing has been a part of school since the nineteen–thirties; in those days it was used as a way to measure students that had special needs. Since the time that standardized test have been in American schools there has been many programs that have placed an importance on the idea of standardized testing such as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Evans 1). Over the years the importance of standardized testing has increased tremendously and so has the stakes, not only for teachers but also students. All states in the United States of America have state test in order to measure how much students learn, and help tell how well the...show more content...
Most standardized test do not measure emotional or mechanical intelligence, actually a lot of educators argue that standardized test do not measure comprehension or actual intelligence but rather memorization. While others may believe that standardized testing just needs a few improvements, others believe that it is impossible to have a test that measures accurately the capability of a diverse student population. Today's schooling depends heavily on the test scores from standardized test. Standardized testing should not have so much weight put on them because they have a negative impact on effective education, students' self–concept, and learning styles.
Although standardized testing has been a major part of schooling it has also had a negative impact on effective education. Standardized has made a huge impact on public schooling so much that not only does it affect the students but also the teachers. With the teachers now beginning to get raises or having their jobs on the line if their students fail the test, many students have not been getting the fullest education process that they could get. Students may not realize the impact that it has had on the type of teaching style that they receive because they are so used to it. With so many teachers not having a lot of time to teach what is on the test and the other things that they feel are important to students to know, a lot of
Argumentative Essay: It's Time To Stop Poaching
Imagine going to the zoo and not see your beloved picture book animals. When people think of problems in the environment they think of global warming and pollution. Well, Poaching is also one of those problems. As years go on poaching has only gotten worse and as a result, animales have been paying the price. As many nations have gotten on board to try to stop the illegal trafficking animals, poachers have not yet stopped. Therefore penalties for poaching should be severe.Poaching is the cause of many species extinction, drug dealing, and weapon smuggling.

By depending on the black market to help sell animal parts, it gives out an idea that this is illegal. In fact, The World Book Web claims that Poachers use animal remains in the trading for weapons and narcotics. Furthermore, this shows how poachers don't just sell but buy illegally. Doubtless, poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take time.
Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals go extinct, but there will always be a counter claim from another person arguing that it's not true. For every argument, there is a counter claim and in this case, the topic is poaching.Poaching is very severe and harmful to the environment while others might say that poaching is great because it sells for a lot of profit. What they don't realize is how much damage they are actually
Global Warming Argumentative Essay
Global Warming: Myth or Fact? The Global Warming theory has become increasingly popular over the past few years. Citizens of the world are being encouraged to be more environmentally conscious by others including politicians, celebrities, and world organizations. The problem with the theory lies in the fact that it has become more and more controversial as it gains publicity and attention. The basic concept behind this theory is that the earth was made with a balance of "greenhouse gasses". These gasses are naturally occurring within the atmosphere and they essentially make the planet habitable by keeping it warm. When the world became more industrialized, the amount of carbon dioxide that was being emitted into the atmosphere...show more content...
The more people habituating the planet, the more potential there is for emission of greenhouse gasses. In short, the basis of this argument other than years of documented research and scientific discovery is what harm could we do by being more conservative in our use of energy and other entities that produce more than their share of greenhouse gasses? The answer as it stands now is none. The harmful effects of ignoring this crisis are all but proven fact. The problem that the pro– global warming theorists have created is that of social standing and little else. While there may be scientific backing to support some of the theory, the media presents the problem with great sensationalism. Global warming and energy conservation has thus become a trend and losses some of its validity through this. The scare tactics used by the media to "promote awareness" are just that, a linguistic ploy to gain favor. "Awareness of this global threat reinforced public concern and environmental problems and thereby provided environmental activists, scientists, and policy makers with new momentum in their efforts to promote environmental protection." (McCright, 2000) This statement draws line to the potential benefits that would be received if the pro–global warming theorists were to draw enough attention to the issue. Driven by social empowerment and conviction to environmental protection, these activists misrepresent the actual threat and paint it as being much more
Thesis On Stress And Burnout
NEED FOR STUDY
Healthcare professionals are trained to put the needs of others before themselves and spend each working day exposed to the emotional strain of dealing with people who are sick dying and who have extreme physical and/or emotional needs, this emotional strain, coupled with other stress factors inherent in the healthcare work environment, renders healthcare professionals especially vulnerable to burnout.
Burnout has been explored in population of healthcare professionals around the world, and studied have involved all typed of healthcare professionals including allied healthcare professional medical residents and fellows, and dentists. The rates of burnout vary among these subgroups, but in general, the rates are higher among healthcare professionals than among individuals in no helping occupation. The rates of job dissatisfaction have been much higher in individual's studies. For example, in a study of 13,471 nurses in Pennsylvania (1998 – 1999, 41% of respondents said they were dissatisfied with their jobs. Writer's Statement
Thesis Statement: Climate change is natural; however, advances of human society such as deforestation, industrialization, and the burning of fossil fuels, have increased the rate at which the climate is changing.
My three major sources stood out when writing my research paper on climate change. My main source was Louis Bergeron's, "The World Can be Powered by Alternative Energy, Using Today's Technology, in 20–40 Years, Says Stanford Researcher Mark Z. Jacobson." In this article, Bergeron describes an energy researcher's plan to power the world with renewables within the next few decades. My second source was Marc Lallanilla's, "Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Causes and Sources." In this article, Lallanilla talked about the
Thesis Statement : Global Warming
Thesis Statement: Global warming is a growing concern of scientists and researchers who believe that it is a serious problem for our planet. The concerns and research have also been questioned and have even been called myths. Millions of people find themselves affected by these weather pattern changes and are concerned for their futures. Activists on both sides of the argument are very passionate and not afraid to attack each other in every way they can. There are many questions that are still not answered, however, we continue to see drastic weather changes to Earth. We must go beyond the arguments and learn as much as we can to stop what could possibly lead to the destruction of our planet, our way of life and our future.
Global warming is concerned with an average increase in the temperature of the atmosphere and the increase in the Earth 's surface temperature primarily due to the emission of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels. As for the processes of global warming, they can occur from a variety of causes. The causes include the things that are concerned with natural and human factors.
Some people believe that global warming is a myth or hoax. They believe that global warming is being used to generate fear and panic and that those behind this movement are using it to control people 's lives and for financial gain. "Within the community of scientists and others concerned about anthropogenic climate change, those who are skeptics are more commonly termed

Teen suicide is something that is endless, it will never stop but if everyone was educated on it, it could help prevent deaths. I think with people provided with statistics and further information can help avoid adolescent suicide attempts. I think most teen suicide cases could be prevent if we knew the signs to look for and the ways to stop it. I believe parents would feel safer if they knew knowledge on the issue and how to handle it. The intended audiences for this essay is parents or friends of suicidal teens. This essay is important because, as mentioned earlier, we need to be educated on suicide to end tons of tragedies. It is also important to be aware of the warning signs to help prevent. This essay is relevant because teen suicide is a war that happens daily, and will continue to happen, until we take control of the situation and do something to stop it. If family members were informed of the cause and symptoms leading up to the attempt of suicide, then there is less likely that teenagers would try and commit
Thesis Statement Against Homework
The Case Against Homework:
Homework/it is "All pain and no gain"
There is very very little, if any, correlation between homework and test scores
Not a single study has ever supported the folk wisdom that homework teaches good study habits and self–discipline.
Most of homework is assigned as busywork to keep kids busy, assuming that they will waste their time.
A lot of teachers feel pressured to assign homework by tradition, administrators, and/or parents.
Most of the folk wisdom that homework is good and helps your academic achievement, test scores, responsibility, study habits, and to connect with your family has either been proven wrong, the opposite, or has not been proven at all.
Homework only allows kids to grow academically, because it takes up so much time to do, they don't have time to do anything other than...show more content...

May 18, 2015 A Persuasive Thesis Statement on Youth and the Internet
Dangers of the Internet, Fact or Fiction?
Today's youth are tomorrow's leaders. They are our future. So what kind of leaders are we creating? What affects the way our children grow up today? Popular opinion today says that excessive use of the internet is damaging to the youth of the world in many ways. One of the most significant beliefs is that kids today don't exercise enough because they are on the computer all the time and that this will lead to a host of serious health problems including obesity but also other types of physical damage to the body such as "harmful impacts on their eyes, backs, and wrists" (Shields and Behrman). Another significant belief is that children are hurt emotionally because they become more isolated (Shields and Behrman). This would seem to imply that the future of our world was in jeopardy. But Even though spending too much time on the computer takes time away from exercise and social interactions, the popular belief that excessive use of the internet is damaging today 's youth is not accurate because the internet, including social media, allows youth to keep up with technology and its vast amounts of information while actually feeling more connected to the world, not isolated. Furthermore, this connection allows youth to participate more freely in the world around them giving them more power in the world (Castells).

Argumentative Essay On Climate Change
Climate change can be traced down to since the mid–1800s, when the industrial revolution first started taking place all around the world. Lives of human and animal species have been negatively affected since then, with events such as natural disasters, the melting of ice in polar regions, and change in weather and living conditions. Climate change in polar regions, in particular, has faced the most damage compared to any other region because of its location in regard to the sun. Climate change holds many different views and opinions about the effects, and even the existence itself, but evidence is clear and unmistakable in global ramifications and local impact in polar regions.
"...Climate change [is] the 'greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people'", skeptics like Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma like to say. Climate change is change in climate patterns due to an increase in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases produced by certain human activity. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, data taken by satellite has shown that the Arctic cover has decreased by 30% over the past 30 years, and this change, which also include change in sea ice and permafrost, in artic weather and climate is caused by humans. Although numerous scientists have confirmed the legitimacy of climate change, there are different views on whether climate change is real or not. Government officials like Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma or Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have explicitly stated that they do not believe climate change is neither real, nor caused by humans (Tom McCarthy, 2014). On the other hand, mainstream media and other media outlets, such as The Independent and The Economist, have reported their findings of climate change and its legitimacy. The Independent (Conner, S. 2011) reported that records of these changes were taken by military submarines, land measurements, and satellite data to prove ice in polar regions are melting faster and faster. Satellites have tracked sea ice since the 1970s and by nuclear submarines since the Cold War,
according to Peter Wadhams of Cambridge University and it was predicted that by September 2015, there would be no more sea ice. (Conner, S. 2011). Luckily, sea ice has not

Every young person should be an entrepreneur, because it gives him the opportunity to build his own future, set an example in society, and help his family since he is young.
List of main ideas:
1. Experience for the future. 2. Build your own future. 3. You can have extra money 4. You can have a good use to your extra time. 5. You can be an example for society. 6. You will have a job since young. 7. You will help your employees. 8. You can donate money. 9. You can help your family. 10. You can apply...show more content...
It is not bad for a young entrepreneur to pay bills; instead, it is good, because it gives the young person responsibilities to do, and makes the young entrepreneur a good family member because he contributes to home and stops spending things he used to spend because he is now the one who pays the bills.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that being a young entrepreneur is good because it gives the young entrepreneur the opportunity to build his own future, set an example in society, and help his family since he is young, what is good because by doing so, the young person gains many things, such as responsibility towards life, perseverance in his life, and of course humility to ask God for His help at what he is doing in his life. It is definitely good to be a young entrepreneur because God tells us to use well our time and give an example to the believers while we are young, and we can do that being young laborious servants of God.

Although legislatives assumption was that high stakes testing would enhance understudy inspiration, and raise understudy accomplishment, that supposition was completely incorrect. The effect of standardized testing (high–stakes testing) has not been positive throughout the United States at all. Due to the lack of motivation, the high retention rate, and notable change in dropout rate, it may be a while until many states recover, especially for states like Louisiana. According to Nola, Louisiana is tied with Florida for having one of the country's fifth lowest graduation rates, and one of the highest dropout rates. Our society needs to come together and think of a plan that will help students, and prevent the increasing number of kids who decide to give up on school. A system that will benefit both students, and teachers should be created; making it better for both, students and teachers to work together properly. With a new system student motivation may improve, the number of over aged students sitting in the wrong grade will decrease, and the notable dropout rate will actually

Argumentative Essay On Veganism
Running head: RESEARCH ESSAY
In today's society, there are many different diets that people can follow. One of those diets is called veganism. People who follow this diet refuse to consume meat or other animal products, including eggs and dairy. Veganism is becoming more and more popular for a number of reasons. Some people go vegan because they do not want to be responsible for cruelty against animals. Others choose the vegan diet for their health or to help protect the environment. No matter what the reason, the truth is clear: the vegan diet is simply the best choice. It is better for animals, better for us, and better for the Earth.
Farm animals' lives are degrading, painful, and they endure a lot of abuse. The majority of our meat...show more content...
In addition to their clean consciences, vegans can boast of healthy bodies. A meat–heavy diet can be disastrous for one's health. The World Health Organization, for instance, has linked red and processed meats to colorectal cancer (O'Connor, October 2015). Plant–based diets, on the other hand, benefit our bodies in many ways. The advantages of avoiding meat are summarized in a recent article from The Duke Health Medicine
News: "Vegetarian dietary patterns are associated with lower body mass, lower prevalence and incidence of diabetes mellitus, lower prevalence of metabolic syndrome and its components (abdominal obesity, elevated blood pressure and fasting blood sugar, high triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol levels), lower hypertension, lower all–cause mortality, and in some cases, lower risk of cancer" ("Vegetarian Diets", 2015, p.

"Compared to lacto–ovo–vegetarian diets, vegan diets seem to provide some added protection against obesity, hypertension, type–2 diabetes; and cardiovascular mortality" (Le & Sabaté, 2014, p. 2142). Despite these facts, many people remain skeptical. That vegans can obtain all the nutrients their bodies need, such as protein. This skepticism is unfounded: legumes, tofu, and other staples of the vegan diet provide plenty of protein. For example, according to the

The Declaration of Independence was an important document in American history but it does not mean that it gained us our true freedom. It was a document that was written and signed on July 4th, 1776. The men that signed such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson told the colonists that this was a sign of them splitting from Great Britain and becoming an independent nation thus being called the United States of America. The document was then sent over to Great Britain for King George to read. This possibly could have caused even more hostility between the colonists and Great Britain because of how the British completely ignored the document. This beginning to the document tells only of what they want, not what will happen. The war then took an entire new path when the document was published since it showed the resentment the colonists had towards Britain's rule. After the French and Indian War and the signing of the Treaty of Paris, the French ended on friendly terms with Britain. When the colonists started to fight against Great Britain's rule, the French chose this opportunity help the colonists. The Declaration of Independence did not affect the way other countries saw them such as the French. Their only motive for siding with the colonist was probably to defeat their former enemy.
It also was never fair to all of the people who lived in the colonies. Many African–Americans and Europeans never had many rights as whites males did. Females also did not have a big role in the colonies and its government. They were only to work and clean the home that the husband owned and to take care of the children if they had any. The Declaration was in the works and was not thought out properly so it may have had some flaws but the mind set of colored people and women not having rights would greatly affect how they are seen in America's future.
This document countered many of the other documents that were instated as colonial law by the British. One such example would be the Quartering Act, which allowed British soldiers positioned within the colonies to be allowed in the homes of any colonist. Acts

The Better Alternative When choosing a vehicle that would get you from one place to another, would you not choose the better alternative? In discussions of vehicular transportation, one controversial issue has been whether or not people should use electric cars or gas powered cars. On one hand, others contend that people should not use gas powered cars over electric cars.On the other hand, people argue that gas powered cars should be used over electric cars People should use electric cars because they are better for the environment, are cheaper and the government provides better incentives than gas powered cars. When it comes to gas powered cars, there are some reasons why it's morely prefered. First of all, the electric car is still relatively new, while gas powered cars have been around since the beginning. The transition to an electric car may not be so easy, as having a gas car is what everyone is used to. The gas powered car can also travel longer distances, due to having more power than an electric car as an electric car can travel about 100 miles in one charge. These fluids can harm humans as well as animals, and can pollute our water systems. Electric cars on the other hand are better for the environment. They use half the energy of a gas powered car, so they don't cause as much pollution in the air. They also use cleaner energy; electricity, which doesn't harm the environment as much as
