Essay On Bhagavad Gita
Chapter 3: The Bhagavad–Gita
The Bhagavad–Gita is considered as one of the oldest religious writings in the whole world. Hindus believe that it contains God's message, similar to the Bible and the Quran. In general, this scripture is a dialogue between the Supreme God and one of his devotees. This conversation was originally recorded in Sanskrit, but it has been translated to many languages over the years. This particular religious scripture is full of ancient myths, legends, traditions, and other writings. Its content is closely connected to Krishna's life here on earth.
Brahman lived on earth as Krishna in order to defeat evil and encourage humans to practice dharma (i.e. righteous living). He left his message in the form of Bhagavad–Gita so that humans will have a clear guideline as to how to live their lives. The conversation between Krishna and Arjuna can play an important role in minimizing the pain and suffering experienced by every human being.
The core principles of the Bhagavad–Gita serve as the foundation of Hinduism. Its pages contain Brahman's message regarding faith, detachment, devotion, correct knowledge, and performance of tasks. It also contains valuable lessons on how to avoid an ego–centered life. This kind...show more content...
An individual must perform his duties according to his nature (swadharmacharana). The next secret talks about the hidden personality of humans. According to this book, every person has a true self hidden inside him/her. This "hidden self" is extremely different from the false or "material self." Each Hindu should know the difference between his true and false self if he wants to attain liberation from Maya. The last secret focuses on Brahman's omnipresence. Each individual needs to live his entire life knowing that everything is but a small part of the Supreme
Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the
The first step to being successful, no matter what you're trying to succeed, is to recognize your weak points, your strengths, and your limits. I myself know that I have several, and when I say several, I mean several, weak points when it comes to writing papers. The first and most lethal to a student who wishes to be well, is procrastination. I will always put writing a paper off till the last minute. In fact, I'm doing it right now as I'm writing this. I'm already doing what I say I'm not supposed to be doing. You can probably tell that I'm off to a great start. The next on the list of things that will brutally murder a student who wishes to do well in a class are distractions. Of course there is a multitude of things that can distract...show more content...
I didn't really do that in this paper, so you can relax, but in future essays, you had better watch out. You might also want to watch out for a particular mood or feeling in my writings as well. This is because I listen to music whenever I have to write, because I am normally very easily distracted by noises (and shiny objects). The former of these things I overcome by blasting music into my head, because it eliminates all of the external stimuli that can derail my entire writing process. This may sound kind–of contradictory, because I'm being distracted by noise so I put on more noise. The difference is though, that music is more of a background noise to me, while conversation always grabs my attention. Something else that grabs my attention is video; if I ever listen to music if has to be from iTunes and absolutely not from YouTube. If I know that there is something visual that goes along with what I'm hearing, then I am just pulled into watching the video. This is extremely bad for when you're trying to write a paper, especially if you're like me and you have to look at what you're typing as you go along. Something that I can also do to help my writing is to always read what I wrote out loud. When I say out loud, I mean out loud! This will help me catch some of the grammatical errors that anyone can easily make, and I can also make sure that what I am writing makes sense. Something else that can help me
Friendship Essay: Helping a Friend in Need
It is very sad to see a friend or relative suffering or in need, especially when they pretend that everything is all right. It is a delicate situation when approaching someone in this predicament, as often a person's pride stands in the way of reaching out for comfort. How to offer your help to an independent friend or relative in this position requires a bit of clever manipulation and a not–so– obvious plan in order to help.
If the problem at hand is a financial matter, the first response would be to offer them a loan. On the other hand, most people would be embarrassed to admit to this, and will perhaps be offended at the offer. However, instead of outright offering them money, trading a service in return for payment would not seem as...show more content...
This will certainly make them feel better and will be helping them out at the same time.
Friends or relatives who have children may experience times when they cannot afford to give them the luxuries of toys, games or name brand clothing. At the same time, while most children do not understand hard times, these friends or relatives hurt inside because of this. It would probably be insulting to them if you bought a bag of toys, a new wardrobe for the kids or a slew of games and delivered these items in order to help. Overall, there is a way to present such items in a fashion that will not seem like charity. While honesty is the best policy, lending a helping hand when we are in a position to do so often takes precedence. Telling our life long friend or family member that our children received clothing as a gift, but it did not fit, or perhaps received a duplicate toy or game and offering it to their children is a way to help in times of despair.
Many times when family or friends decide to meet or get together to go out for dinner, drinks, or even to a movie, we take for granite the expense of these excursions and expect that everyone can participate. On the contrary, when a friend or relative bows out, the reason why they decline becomes obvious. Here again, little white lies come in to play, and compassion takes over. Mentioning to this friend or relative that you
Early Childhood Education teachers know that our children deserve to learn the important lessons from us and to acquire important habits with our help. Teachers and future teachers want our children to grow up to be responsible adults. Also, teachers are trying to find the perfect way to deal with children with different type of behavior. Teachers have to deal with parents, giving them a satisfactory result of their child developmental progress and security. My philosophy of guiding young children behavior is to use the combination of collaboration, positive attitude, and patience. Self control is important to teach to children because they learn the concept of courage, honesty, deal effectively with emotions, such as anger, and to...show more content...
This is a big problem when teachers don't put attention to children. Instead of teaching them how to use self control we are creating negative behavior, because we as teacher are not telling the child how to solve an argument. A good guidance is to know how to talk and explain the entire class that respect it is important and we should give to others. Repeat the rules over and over again it is important and helpful for the children to not to forget about them, and everybody in the class is supposed to followed them. Another important point is the collaboration from parents if they want to their child to be success in school and in their future they are supposed to correct their child. Sometimes parents think that their children are angels and it is impossible for them to misbehave, but unfortunately when they misbehave and the teacher tells the parent, some of them don't believe the teacher and this creates more work for the teacher because she is the one who is dealing with the kid. In the other hand the collaboration of the children it is important too, because it helps to the teacher to have a calm classroom. For example: if Jonnie started to jump up and down from the chair and the teacher said if you sit for ten minutes I will give you a surprise. The child will do it because of his curiosity, and that positive reinforcement, encouragement, offering choices, redirection, limiting setting, and joint problem solving are the most effective tools of
What I Have Learned Essay
What I Have Learned
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted anymore.
I also feel that maturing counts as learning for me because growing up I was continuously being called immature. For me, maturing counts as learning because I find myself doing things I never thought I...show more content...
I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on any test I take.
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning differently than I did
Effective Teaching Strategies Essay
Reflection Item Two:
'Adapting the curriculum and effective teaching strategies'
Question: Discuss in detail ways that teachers can set up the learning environment in order to maximise teaching and learning, and the advantages and disadvantages that belong with such implementation.
In our teaching careers, the biggest achievement we can make; is to succeed in creating a supportive environment which nurtures the emotional, physical, social and intellectual developmental needs of each and every one of our students.
Belonging to an inclusive educational setting as a supportive teacher, means we can encourage our students to flourish and grow into successful and achieving individuals. In an article by Ashman & Elkins, (2008) discussing...show more content...
Teachers share many characteristics in common with parents, teachers also aiming to support and develop student's motional, social, physical, financial and psychological needs by developing learning opportunies which foster this growth. Recognising that parents and teachers both play similar and equally as important roles in a child's development is the fist step to fostering a collaborative relationship between both parties. Finders and Lewis (1994) further discuss this issue of parental involvement in schooling by discussing Delgado– Gaitan's (1991) work, which states "The difference between parents who participate (in schooling) and those who do not is that, those who do have recognised that they are a critical part in their children's education". If parents can be made aware that their contributions towards the educational environment are both valued and appreciated, then teachers will gain access to a wealth of knowledge in which they would have otherwise been denied. This extrinsic knowledge will help teachers to understand each student learning styles, interests, strengths and weaknesses and motivators.
Collaboration is not only imperative to establish within a Parent/Guardian – Teacher relationship, but it is also important to develop professionally with other colleagues. Working with other professional allows teachers to learn a multitude of different teaching and learning tools they can use in their classroom to further support
Bartleby The Scrivener Setting Analysis
Recently, I have learned that urban settings creates an opportunity for intimacy with one another; however, in "Bartleby, the Scrivener" written by Herman Melville, that was not the case. He describes the nature of the world of work and business through concrete description of the scenery. The story is set on Wall Street in New York City which had become the core of American business life during the 1850s. The setting is a critical component of Bartleby, because it emphasize the author's concern about the effects that an environment has on American society. Bartleby's environment separated him from nature and the people around him. To illustrate Bartleby's detachment from society, he worked in "a corner by the folding–doors" behind a screen and has a window that "commanded at present no view at all" (1489). A creation of emptiness in the business life was molded. The setting indicates a sense of isolation and failure to connect; however, it establishes the relation between the walling out of Bartleby from his boss, passive...show more content...
Specifically, by using the city and, of course, the office, he shows us just how alone we can be even when we are surrounded by others. We are, in deed, a product of our surroundings. As mentioned, the walls and other barriers that separated or surrounded Bartleby impacted him greatly. The atmosphere of the office is absent of friendless and a sense of community. In fact, the employer even recalled this thought he had; he stated that "what miserable friendlessness and loneliness are here revealed" (1495). This conveys the distance and incompatible relationship between him and Bartleby. It was as if Bartleby was an estranged employee in a insensitive network. Although humanity is profoundly alienated from one another, we are somehow connected; yet, we are controlled by imperceptive forces that are beyond our
I Am A Hard Working And Dedicated Student
In daily life the term personality is very freely used by people with different meanings. Some people refer to the physical appearance like height, weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc. Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech, thinking and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. I have never thought of what my personality is, so when i was asked to write an essay on what my personality was it was just a great task for me to writing about my personality. Primarily, I am a hard working and dedicated student. I 've always put my best in everything that I 've done academically. I am not the type of person who gets put up to a big challenge and backs down. I will always rise to the peak of my production and accomplish my goal. On this description I will be describing myself in a wide variety of personality traits that are good, and bad. Such as: enthusiastic, organized, not friendly , calm and my bad ones are having a quick temper and
Examples Of Words Of Encouragement Essay
At some point in life, we may need a little push to wake us up, a little spark to brighten up our life or maybe a little word of encouragement from the people around us to keep us going. It is normal to feel sad or discourage towards life, but let me tell you, if the right word is said to the right person at the right time, a big difference can be made in their life. Words are powerful. It can bring you down and crush your souls; it can also uplift your whole wellbeing and give you hope towards life. Right words are even more powerful. Right words not only can encourage you, it also can give you that little boost that you need in times of despair. So what exactly are the powerful right words that we're talking about? What do I get in return in saying the right words? Does being positive impact other people's life? Does it bring a difference to the society if I say those right words to those who are in need of encouragement? The answer is yes. There are many people that is in need of encouragement. Right words or encouraging words can give people the external strength to move on and not give up. Some people will go through life changing experience because of your encouragement. For example, A may not be brave enough to take part in a competition although A is very talented. B, who knows that A has the talent and potential, encourages A to enter the competition by saying the right words to A. In the end A entered the competition and won. This life changing experience would not have happened to A if B did not say the right words that encouraged A. Therefore, an encouragement can make a difference in other people's
Life Essay : Choosing The Right Path In Life
Choosing the Right Path in Life
Thorough out life we need to choose a path in life. This is the hardest decision we can make because this is what determines our future and not choosing the right one can lead to poverty or sadness for the rest of our lives. Choosing between our parents can be one decision but which parent do we chose? We love both of them equally but how will they feel when you pick the other? Another issue is choosing what to do with your life in total. Not all of us know what we want to do in life and our parents just telling us to do what's best doesn't always help. Which path do we take? How do we know what's better for us? Even having to choose can lead to sadness, so what do we do?
What is best? This is a question that all of us ask ourselves throughout our life times numerous times. Choosing what is best for us is hard because we don't know what will work out perfectly and what we will fail to achieve. In the short story The Boat the only boy in the family is not being told what to do. His parents have expectations for him to follow but it is his decision on which one to chose. One parent will end up being disappointed but it is what the boy thinks is right to do. The boys mother wants him to follow in her family's footsteps. She wants him to continue in the life of the boat and not the city like his father wants him to. At the end of the day it is what the boy thinks is right and what makes him happy. In the short story Mother To Son the boy does

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly
Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that other nurses will not

"You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring on the water."
– Rabindranath Tagore, Bengali Polymath
In my own words, Rabindranath Tagore wants to give a message to everyone that you can't achieve anything by just sitting down there, imagining and dreaming. He just want to tell everyone that in order to achieve your goals or ambitions by working hard for it because there is no shortcut in achieving your goals or ambitions in life, it will take a lot of hardships, challenges, determination, faith and courage in order for anyone to achieve their goals or ambitions. Like us students, we will not achieve anything if we just keep on looking and ignoring the things we need to do in order for us to achieve anything.

When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them.
For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms
Preparing for an Interview Essay
Interviewing is a selling situation. It involves the exchange of information and building of personal chemistry. It's not only what you say that's important but how you say it. There are seven key things you can do to build a positive rapport.
Research can help build chemistry
The first step for building a rapport is to research the company in advance. If you've ever met someone who knew a lot about you, it kind of takes you by surprise, doesn't it? It is a great way to make a positive first impression.
A friend of mine, has built a consulting business on the fact that he does research ahead of time. His clients tell him that he wins their business because he knows a lot more about them than anyone else. So make it your...show more content...
Build chemistry by paying sincere compliments
Before the interview, read or talk to people about the company and uncover some good things to say. Somewhere in those first few minutes, find the opportunity to pay a real compliment.
You can compliment their facilities, people, products, advertising, public relations or anything else. What ever you do, be specific. Don't just say that people you know are impressed by the product. Talk about why they are impressed. Maybe it's that new product they added this year, or the designs they have adapted.
By giving details, you show that you have given it some thought and that your complement is not just empty flattery.
Build chemistry in the way you answer questions
The way you answer questions has more to do with building positive chemistry than with what you say. He could use the standard...tell me about yourself and you could begin by talking about the kind of person you, but that may not be what the interviewer is interested in. You could say, "Mr. Jones, I'd be happy to tell you about myself, and I suppose you are most interested in my work experience."
When you self–qualify like that, you give the interviewer plenty of opportunity to respond, and to direct the conversation toward some other area, if that's not what he or she is really interested in.
Answer questions with good, action–oriented stories. If you fail to tell a story,
My Experience In Counselling
My first experience with counselling was when I was roughly 17 years old. Back then I was a part of the people who believed in the myths surrounding counselling, back then it was my last option but I can still look back and say that I took that decision on my own and I was prepared to face resistance which I did, in the form of my parents who thought that it was an option for people who had gone 'mad'. Overcoming these resistances I finally went ahead for counselling and to my absolute disappointment, the session was useless and at times even offensive to me. The counsellor asked me my age and started telling a long list of problems I may be facing. She didn't stop there and then asked me about my weight and any problems that I may be having...show more content...
The first of which are issues that are personal to me, I realise that there are experiences in my past that may hinder me as a counsellor the most important of which is my inability to maintain eye contact with another person which wasn't an issue in the past years but in the counselling session might convey a very negative impression to the client for they may interpret it as my disinterest. This issue has prompted me to go to personal therapy and also has increased the relevance and importance of personal therapy in my eyes. Through this experience I have also realised how unresolved issues in the past can impact the counselling process with or without you being aware about them. There are many areas that I need to work on expect this and the major among them is my competence as a counsellor, I still need to develop various professional skills that I will be required to employ in the counselling session and that is something I believe I will gain from my course. The most important thing that believe I need to work on are my own beliefs about counselling, for a long time I didn't realise that despite being trained for becoming a counsellor I never realised that even to me counselling seemed appropriate as the last option, a choice you make when all else fails and also that with time things will eventually get better and you don't need therapy to work through it. Both of these beliefs seem wrong to be now that I have gained more objective knowledge of counselling. Firstly, to keep counselling as a last resort the person is embracing a very likely possibility that things would get worse then on rather than better and if proper therapy is undertaken at the very beginning of a problem it will improve things for the individual for definite and may also be more effective and efficient in comparison to if you let it blow to proportion that may severely
Best Ways To Study Essay
Three Best Ways to Study For many students studying for an exam or a test can be very stressful. For a lot of them studying is very hard because sometimes most of the materials they study, they don't remember on the actual test or exam. However there are more than one way to study and most theses studying methods can be very helpful and very reliable. A Lot of students tend to cram all the studying two or the night before the test and according to UCLA professor of psychiatry Andrew J. With this setting it's also helpful to be consistent with the studying, studying at the same time and same place is very effective especially when this is done 2 –3 weeks prior to the test quiz or exam. With the proper setting, proper setting is also necessary. " Your study desk or table should be equipped with all the materials you might need to complete the assignment, e.g., pencils, pens, erasers, paper clips, stapler, dictionary, snacks, and liquid refreshments, etc." – Chadron State College. Adding items that can help you study and removing things that might distract is also need for effective studying.
The third and final method of studying that is effective is studying while listening to music. According to Goodwin (2015), studying with music before a test can improve attention and can help lessen depression and anxiety. The "Mozart effect" is known to be helpful but of course today the effects will be very different since students don't tend to listen to Mozart. The type of music played also plays a pig role of studying. Studying with music that has lyrics is not recommended
